The Man Repeller - Driving traffic to your social media platforms

If you were to ask what makes someone go to the Man Repeller's blog, they would definitely tell you that it's all about the content she uploads and the amazing stories she posts. However, if you want to attract views and traffic to your blog, creating good content is good but often not enough. This is why we decided to take a look at what some bloggers such as Leandra Medine aka Man Repeller do to drive traffic to her main social platform: her blog. Why is traffic important you may ask? Well that's the only way to gain more followers, fame and ultimately attract brands for marketing purposes. From a business standpoint, you need traffic!

In order to give you a good overview of what you can do as a blogger to increase your traffic, we will start with the most obvious ones; that is Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. At the end of this post you will also find out top five advice to drive traffic to your social media platforms. Bloggers, Ready, Set, Go!

TWITTER - Humor

The Man Repeller uses Twitter to interact with her readers in a very casual way. She focuses on building a conversation with her followers rather than strictly talk about fashion.

Leandra obviously also posts some tweets about fashion such as seen in the following post. Man Repeller's secret is the use of humor, which is what her blog is all about. Through small and humorous tweets and a constant linkage to her blog, The Man Repeller drives traffic from twitter to her main website by giving out small extracts of content to the public, just enough to give you the tempation to go check out the full article on her blog.

FACEBOOK - Formal

Another tool to drive traffic to your website is Facebook. Man Repeller uses Facebook to communicate with her readers and post non-fashion related content. Contrasting from Twitter, the content on Facebook is more formal and professional. With Facebook you can write more on your post since you do not have a character limit. That gives you the opportunity to inform more and give more content in every post you publish. However, always be careful not to write too much. You do not want to give everything out on Facebook. You can write more but the point is to attract and tempt enough to drive traffic to your main platform: your blog. Again, The Man Repeller constantly refers to her blog with a tiny URL.

INSTAGRAM

Last but not least: Instagram, the most popular social media platform for fashion bloggers. The Man Repeller has over 845,000 followers on Instagram, which is by far, after her blog, her main major medium of communication. While Twitter's and Facebook's goal is to drive traffic to her blog, Instagram is also used to upload original content. It acts as second blog the way Twitter and Facebook can't. The key to this medium is to be direct with what you represent as a brand, which means that the content you post has to be directly correlated to what you are known for. You need to create a homogeneous image through in and through out. The Man Repeller only posts things she creates or talks about in her website, so you can see Instagram as an opportunity to promote your brand and not like Facebook and Twitter that also work as mediums to relate and interact with your readers.

So next time you think of posting a picture of that funny angry cat on your website´s instagram account think again. There is always the right medium for the right content and its up to you to discovers what goes well with your audience. Do you want to be funny? formal? Think about it carefully.
