Sincerely Jules & Mobile Blogging

We now live in a time where our mobile devices and portable tablets are an integral part of our everyday life, and everyday tasks that we used to do on our personal computers are now easily and rapidly done through our mobile devices. Because of this shift, businesses have to adapt and make sure that not only are their websites available from a mobile device, but that they are easy to navigate and optimized to their best capabilites. Take for example online shopping, a couple of years ago, online shopping used to take place almost entirely on computers, but now, companies have made their websites mobile friendly so that consumers dont have to wait to get home to their laptops, but can go ahead with the purchase easily on their phones or tablets.

This not only applies to businesses in retail but almost every other business including fashion bloggers. Because bloggers are so involved in all things social media and are always on the go, they need to understand that so are their viewers. Most loyal followers are either subscribed to the blog, meaning they get an email every time their favorite blogger updates a post, or just check regularly. With this being said, it is extremely likely that they will be on the road while checking for new posts, and therefore will do this on a smart phone or tablet. So for fashion bloggers it is essential that their main blog is mobile friendly, easy to navigate, adjusted to each smart phone dimensions and that it is in sync with the original webpage (there is nothing more annoying than feeling on an entirely different site when viewed from a mobile than a computer!). Take for example blogger, Sincerly Jules, she has managed to make the mobile version of her blog to look almost identical to the PC version, while still being neat, fitting entirely on the phone screen, and easy to navigate.

The first picture above shows you the blog as viewed from a smart phone, while the bottom is viewed from a laptop. You can see that the site looks almost the same but it is adjusted to the measurements of each device in order to be fit for each. On the mobile version of the site, pictures and texts are propotionally much smaller than on the website, thus emphasing content. In other words, much more fits on the screen at once, as you can see above. On the website on the other hand, much less fits on the screen and pictures are proportionally much bigger and usually take the whole space. This allows an emphasize on the pictures, its quality and beauty, rather than the text. The two platform thus complement each other by emphazing either the text or the pictures. Brillantly done! Take example fellow bloggers!

Not only is it important for bloggers to have an easy-to-navigate mobile version of their site but it is extremely importance to make sure the blog looks uniform on both platforms. As a blog addict, I can say first hand I have stopped following certain bloggers who dont use mobile optimization and have really unnatractive mobile sites. For me, and I'm sure other viewers as well, it is extremely important to have the same "feel" on both places. You have a specific image for your followers, your blog has an atmosphere they like which is why they come back. Make sure to keep that atmosphere homogeneous on both computer and movile versions of your blog!

Mobile marketing and optimization is just another example of how bloggers and all other businesses have to be alert and aware of shifting trends in order to adapt and innovate in order to remain relevant!
